It's a Beautiful Day for a Wedding

Destination Weddings

Destination weddings are wonderful because they make the entire experience relaxing. The couple can spend more time with their family and friends, and typically, the resort's wedding coordinator takes care of everything else for you. The average family plans a vacation every two years anyways - so you'll be surprised at the number of people who are willing to join you for your special destination wedding. Destination weddings can be intimate casual occasions that take place with the sand between your toes, but they can also be elaborate large events that take place in ancient chapels, ballrooms, gardens or many other beautiful locations - just as they do back home.

Why Use a Travel Agent to Plan-

Instead of running around the day before your wedding, destination brides find themselves golfing, getting massages, or sipping on margaritas by the pool. While their wedding coordinator is arranging their flowers and their dinner, they're out zip-lining in a rain forest or cenote diving and snorkeling. That's the beauty of a destination wedding, you're able to afford those luxuries that many brides cannot with an at-home wedding.

What does 5 O'Clock Somewhere help with when it comes to planning a destination wedding?
  • I assist couples with navigating the many destination options and explain the legalities of getting married in a foreign country.
  • I review different resorts and their wedding packages and help narrow down the ones that fit the needs, personalities and budget of the couple.
  • I book your travel, transfers, rooms and excursion.
Then, I work to book the wedding guests' travel accommodations - making sure to get group rates where possible and working with your resort's wedding coordinator to coordinate travel itineraries. I stay in touch with the resort wedding coordinator to be sure she is accommodating my bride with all her requests for the wedding.

Where are some favorite locations for destination weddings?
I personally have two favorite destinations for weddings:
  • Riviera Maya, Mexico
  • Maui, Hawaii.
The most convenient location to get married is always Jamaica because of their marriage laws, but the staff at the Mexico resorts have highly trained wedding coordinators; and the natural beauty of the Hawaiian Islands is a breathtaking location for a wedding.

Honeymoons

A honeymoon will be one of the most memorable vacations you will ever take and you do not want to plan or book this online. It is important to talk to a travel consultant about the many different islands, destinations and resorts for your first vacation as a couple. Some resorts are more romantic than others - making your honeymoon all about you as a couple - while others are more social, with mingling events where you'll meet many new friends. And as your travel consultant, I'll be able to work with you to see which locations best suit your needs as a couple. It's also my job to be sure your airlines are set, your rooms at the resort are exactly as you pictured them and your return to the real world goes as smoothly as possible. This is definitely a vacation you want to remember.
What special things can you offer to a honeymooning couple as a travel agent?
I can make requests of resorts for upgrades and special amenities, and for the resort to take special care of my honeymooners. I personally go the extra mile with all my clients and call the resorts the day of arrival to make sure everything is in order for them and verify all flight times.
